Rupp Renovation: UK Announces Upper-Level Seat Selection Info
LEXINGTON, Ky. – UK Athletics has announced initial details regarding the new seat selection process for upper-level season ticket holders for the 2019-20 men’s basketball season. This information will be communicated directly to all upper-level season ticket holders via email and can also be found at UKathletics.com/RuppRenovation.
With chair-back seating to be installed in the upper-level sidelines of Rupp Arena for the first time, all fans in the upper level will participate in a new seat selection process. The order in which fans will select seats will be determined based on K Fund priority point ranking as of Jan. 31, 2019. Season ticket holders will also receive bonus K Fund points based on years of consecutive purchase of men’s basketball season tickets as a reward for their loyalty. Lower-level season ticket holders will not participate in this new seat selection process, as their seating areas are unaffected.
In February 2019, a new Rupp Arena Virtual Venue will launch. The Virtual Venue will give fans 360-degree views inside the renovated home of Kentucky basketball to help upper-level season ticket holders prepare for the seat selection process. The seat selection process for the 2019-20 season will begin in late spring of 2019.
The ongoing transformation of Rupp Arena has already brought a new center-hung scoreboard and ribbon boards plus a new sound system and lighting to the historic venue, creating a more dynamic experience at Kentucky basketball games. The current phase of the renovation will answer years of fan feedback about the need for more comfortable accommodations in the upper level while also creating club areas.
Construction on the first of these new club areas is underway now, while the upper-level chair-back project will begin at the end of the 2018-19 season. Information about memberships to these new clubs will be shared when it is available.
