Kentucky Hosts Wisconsin for Bark in the Park
LEXINGTON, Ky. – For the first time since 2012, the Kentucky women’s soccer team is 3-0-0 to start the season. The “Cardiac Cats” have had fun, late and dramatic matches to begin the year with the Wildcats’ game-winning goals coming in the 87th minute, 105th minute and 92nd minute.
On Sunday afternoon, the Wildcats will put their undefeated record on the line and face off against the Wisconsin Badgers in a nationally-televised match live on the SEC Network. Drew Fellios (pxp) and 1999 Women’s World Cup champion Kate Markgraf (color) will have the call live from the Bell Soccer Complex at 1 p.m. ET. It is Bark in the Park, so fans are encouraged to bring their well-behaved dogs to the pitch for an afternoon of soccer.
Sunday will mark the seventh all-time meeting with Kentucky and Wisconsin. The Badgers lead the series 5-1-1. Last season, UK and Wisconsin opened up the season in Madison with the Badgers taking a tight 1-0 win over the Wildcats. The last time that UK faced Wisconsin at the Bell Soccer Complex was 2015, when the two teams played to a scoreless draw. UK’s only win in the series came in 1997, a 2-1 Wildcat win.
The Badgers are 1-1-0 on the season with a lidlifting win over Marquette last weekend and a loss to nationally-ranked Florida State, 3-0.
