Kentucky Hosts Coastal Carolina on Wednesday
LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Kentucky Wildcats (1-8-3, 1-3-1 SBC) return to The Bell this week following a three-match road trip for a Sun Belt matchup against the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers (3-5-4, 1-2-2 SBC) on Wednesday night at 7 p.m.
Kentucky is set to face Coastal Carolina for the 9th time in program history. Last year, the Wildcats defeated the Chanticleers twice, once during the regular season in a 2-0 win in Conway, and second in the SBC Tournament in a penalty shootout to advance to the conference semifinal.
The Wildcats will look to improve their conference standing with a win on Wednesday night. Kentucky currently sits in ninth place in the Sun Belt Conference standings with four points following the win over Old Dominion and a draw against UCF. Heading into the home stretch of the regular season, Kentucky will face Coastal before their final three games of the season, featuring matchups against James Madison (Oct. 25), Georgia Southern (Oct. 30) and Georgia State (Nov. 3).
Coastal Carolina enters match day 13 of the season coming off a 2-1 defeat against Marshall last week, moving their overall record to 3-5-4 on the year. The Chanticleers currently rank seventh in the SBC with five points, one point ahead of the Wildcats.
Prior to their loss against the Thundering Herd, Coastal were winners of two straight, including a 2-1 conference win over UCF and a 4-2 result over Campbell in their nonconference finale.
The promotional theme for Wednesday night’s match is International Night, celebrating each of the Wildcats’ foreign and domestic players and encouraging fans to wear their favorite international jersey.
