BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Kentucky goalkeeper Megan Holland has been named SEC Co-Defensive Player of the Week, the conference announced in a release on Monday.
This is the first weekly conference honor earned by the sophomore. Holland raked in the accolade after recording her second shutout of the season against Tennessee on Sunday. The Illinois native posted six saves against the Volunteers, preventing them from taking the lead and securing the 0-0 draw for the Wildcats. Holland tied her career high for total saves in a single match, already notching two other career-high matches this season.
Throughout this campaign, the goalkeeper has logged five matches with five or more saves, including an active streak of four consecutive performances. With the addition of her 12 saves this past week, she now totals 50 saves this season, tying for the most total saves by a player in the SEC.
Holland joins three other SEC players who garnered weekly honors: Kayla Keefer of Oklahoma (SEC Offensive Player of the Week), Christina Tsaousis of South Carolina (SEC Co-Defensive Player of the Week) and MacKenzie Gwin of Arkansas (SEC Freshman of the Week).
Holland and the rest of the Wildcats will be back in action on Friday, Oct. 23, when they will return to the Bell Soccer Complex to battle the Ole Miss Rebels at 7:30 p.m. ET. The match will be streamed on SEC Network +.
Admission to all 2026 Kentucky Soccer regular season home matches will be free to the public. For the latest on UK Women’s Soccer, follow the Wildcats on Facebook, Instagram, X and at UKathletics.com.
