Rifle Starts Packed Caturday vs. Murray State Inside Barker Hall

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University of Kentucky rifle team is set to start an action-packed weekend in Lexington on Saturday by playing host to Murray State inside Barker Hall for a dual match.

Saturday’s dual match will begin with sights and prep for smallbore at 8:45 a.m. ET with smallbore beginning at 9 a.m. ET. Air rifle will start at approx. 11 a.m. ET. There will be only one relay on Saturday.

Fans are welcome to attend the match and enjoy free breakfast starting at 8:45 a.m. and then can move down to the range to watch air rifle at approx. 11 a.m. ET. Fans can watch the smallbore action upstairs in Barker Hall.

Saturday’s match will be live streamed at youtube.com/@UKSportsVideo and on UK Rifle’s Facebook page with former UK All-American Billy Azzinaro providing live commentary. Live targets are available at results.megalink.no with a NCAA scorecard available at ncaarifle.org.

“Excited to have our first home match of the season and get to compete in front of our awesome fans for the first time this season,” UK head coach Harry Mullins said. “We certainly had a lot to work on after last weekend and I think the athletes have worked hard to get better each day. This will be another great challenge for us to handle a home match on a quick turnaround. I hope Big Blue Nation comes out and supports us and all the other teams and athletes competing this weekend. Go Cats!”

Last weekend, Kentucky traveled to Georgia Southern and earned a 4724-4723 victory over the Eagles in Statesboro, Georgia. UK was led at the match by junior Sam Adkins, who posted a 588 in smallbore and 598 in air rifle for a 1186 aggregate. That total score was good enough to give him the top individual finish at the match. Senior Braden Peiser was right behind him with a 589 smallbore and 596 air rifle for a 1185 aggregate.

Also competing for Kentucky was junior Liz Peiser, who scored a 581 in smallbore and 596 in air rifle for a 1177 aggregate. Two rookies made their debuts for Kentucky in the match with Maggie Palfrey scoring a 1176 aggregate with a 583 smallbore and 593 air rifle, while Noah Abzug posted a 582 in smallbore and 590 in air rifle for a1172 aggregate. Sophomore Jacob St. Hilaire wrapped up the scoring for Kentucky with a 578 smallbore and 593 air rifle for a 1171 aggregate.

As a team, UK posted a 2341 in smallbore and 2383 in air rifle for the 4724 aggregate. This will be Murray State’s first match of the season.

Following Saturday’s match, Kentucky will be back in action next Saturday vs. Akron inside Barker Hall. Finalized time for sights and prep will be announced next week.
