Cathryn Brown Voted SEC Golfer of the Week

LEXINGTON, Ky. – University of Kentucky senior golfer Cathryn Brown has been voted the Southeastern Conference Golfer of the Week, it was announced by the league office Wednesday.

Playing on her home course and in front of two dozen friends and family, the Eddyville, Kentucky, native hauled in the first 54-hole tournament title of her college career and on a career-best, 10-under-par 206. She also led the Kentucky Wildcats, who put together the third-best tournament total in program history on an 839 (-25), to their first team championship of the season.

Playing in the Bettie Lou Evans Invitational at the University Club of Kentucky (Big Blue) on Monday and Tuesday, Brown turned in three straight rounds of par-or-better – 66 (-6), 72 (E), 68 (-4) – for a career-best 10-under-par 206.

With her performance, she has turned in a par-or-better round in every competitive round this season (6).

Her 6-under-par 66 in the first round tied the 18-hole round tournament record through 32 iterations of the Bettie Lou Evans Invitational. It came off the back of a blemish-free scorecard, which included 12 pars and six birdies.

While Brown has won two other individual titles in her college career, this marked the first 54-hole tournament title for the Bluegrass native. It also marked her second straight top-10 finish through just two tournaments this season.

Brown improved her impressive streak to 47 consecutive rounds that her score has contributed to the team total, a stretch that dates back to her sophomore season in Spring 2025.

Next on the schedule, Brown and the team will compete at The Ally at the Old Waverly Golf Club in West Point, Mississippi, from Oct 5-7.
