Wildcats To Play No. 17/21 South Carolina On The Road

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Kentucky women’s soccer team (6-3-0, 2-0-0 SEC) is set to travel to Columbia, S.C., for a conference road matchup against No. 17/21 South Carolina (8-1-0, 2-0-0 SEC) on Thursday, Sept. 24 at the Eugene E. Stone III Stadium. The matchup will begin at 7:00 p.m. ET and will be broadcast nationally on SEC Network.

The Gamecocks narrowly lead the Wildcats in the all-time series record, going 15-14-2 over the past three decades. The last time the teams crossed paths was Oct. 16. 2025, when Kentucky defeated then-No. 8 South Carolina 3-2. The three Wildcat goals were scored in the explosive first half, one goal coming from returner Kendall Campbell.

Entering Thursday’s matchup, the Wildcats have earned a 6-3-0 record on the season, including a 2-0 mark in SEC play. The team has claimed its first 2-0 start in conference matches since 2015, a feat the program has only had four times before.

Last time out, Kentucky secured its first conference road victory, taking down Missouri 2-1. Off a serve from Michelle Moskau, senior Nadia Ramadan connected for a header into the bottom right of the net. The other goal came from two-time SEC Freshman of the Week Kyla Dawn, who gave the Wildcats a two-goal advantage heading into the final 15 minutes. Despite a goal from Missouri’s Rylie Morse in the 87th minute, the Tigers could not find the equalizer before time expired, allowing the Wildcats to take the win.

So far this season, the Wildcats have been an offensive force, totaling 33 goals on 146 shots. Kentucky currently ranks in the top-10 nationally and in the top-3 in the SEC in four key categories: scoring offense (5th NCAA, 3rd SEC, 3.67), total goals (6th NCAA, 3rd SEC, 33), goal differential (7th NCAA, 3rd SEC, 21) and points per game (10th NCAA, 3rd SEC, 9.22).

Freshman Kyla Dawn currently leads the SEC in shot accuracy (8th NCAA, 0.737). The Dallas native heads the team in overall points (20), goals (9), assists (2) and shots on goal (14), ranking among the best in the country through nine games. 

The Gamecocks have posted a record of 8-1-0 with a 2-0 conference mark. Last time out, South Carolina took down LSU on the road 3-1. The Gamecock goals were supplied by sophomore Ava Tutas, sinking two penalty kicks, and senior Reese Slater, securing the game-winner off a free kick.
