LEXINGTON, Ky. – As announced earlier this week, Karrington Hansen is a member of the 2026-27 USA Swimming Women’s Junior National Team. The women’s team includes 79 of the country’s most elite swimmers, Hansen being among those selected for her national team debut.
Huge news broke for the new, freshman Wildcat, who is coming off an impressive summer that includes this past weekend at the World Aquatics Junior Open Water Championships where she finished for a bronze in the 4x1500m relay and 14th in the country in the 10km open distance swim.
The selection process for the honor is purely based on time. The six athletes with the fastest times at any USA Swim sanctioned qualifying competition for each individual Olympic event were chosen as part of the team. The complete list of athletes selected for the 2026-27 U.S. National Team can be found here.
The excitement surrounding Hensen’s honor is giving the Wildcats a spark of motivation for the 2026-27 collegiate season. As a newcomer, Karrington Hansen is eager to bring a large impact on the team as a whole and to compete at the NCAA level.
Hansen and the rest of the swimming and diving Wildcats will jump into action in their intersquad meet on Sep. 25 before their first dual meet against Florida on Oct. 2.
