LEXINGTON, Ky. – Kentucky forward Kyla Dawn has been named the Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Week for the second consecutive week after notching a hat trick against Wright State on Sunday in just 16 minutes of play.
This is the second SEC honor for Dawn, a native of Dallas. Other weekly award winners include Offensive Player of the Week Sydney Watts from Vanderbilt and Defensive Player of the Week Madi Munguia, an Alabama goalkeeper.
On Sunday alone, Dawn recorded six points with her three goals in the 9-1 win against Wright State. She was the first Wildcat to record a hat trick since Makayla Woods against Tennessee on October 27, 2024.
Dawn currently leads the squad as a freshman in overall points (16), goals (7), assists (2), shots on goal (10), and shots on goal percentage (71.4%), ranking among the best in the country through five games.
Dawn & the rest of the Wildcats return to play on Thursday when they host Louisville at 7:30 p.m. Admission to all 2026 Kentucky Soccer regular season home matches will be free to the public and fans are encouraged to wear blue.
