Marz Josephson Inks Deal with Lexington SC

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Former Kentucky women’s soccer goalkeeper Marz Josephson has signed a contract with defending Gainbridge Super League champions Lexington Sporting Club, the organization announced Thursday.

After trialing with the club during the end of the 2025/26 season, Josephson has inked her first professional contract with the local club after exhausting her collegiate eligibility in the fall of 2024.

Josephson was the Wildcats’ starting goalkeeper for both of her seasons in Lexington, appearing in 40 matches and aiding the Wildcats to major program milestones including a first SEC Tournament qualification since 2015, a first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2014, and a first double-digit win season since 2014. Across the 2023 and 2024 seasons, Josephson tallied 97 saves, a 0.78 save percentage, and a 0.703 goals against average.

A two-time SEC Defensive Player of the Week, Josephson’s marquee moment came in Kentucky’s first NCAA Tournament game in a decade in November 2024. Hosting West Virginia, Josephson tallied a career-high seven saves across regulation and overtime and made a pair of saves in the ensuing shootout, helping the Cats advance to the Second Round. Josephson also recorded a shutout against No. 9 UCLA in the 2024 season.

Josephson began her Wildcat career with nine shutouts in 2023, the second-most by a Kentucky keeper in a single season, while also posting a 0.62 goals against average—the third-best mark in program history and top mark in the Southeastern Conference that season. Josephson helped Kentucky to its first SEC Tournament advancement since 2014 with a 110-minute shutout performance, including playing a woman down for the final 55 minutes, against LSU. Josephson saved a pair of Tiger penalties in the shootout to help her team earn its first postseason advancement in nearly a decade.

Josephson, a native of Apex, N.C., began her collegiate career at North Carolina from 2019-2022, where she advanced to the College Cup three times. Josephson started 16 matches for the Tar Heels during her rookie season before missing her sophomore and junior seasons due to injury. She returned to the pitch with nine appearances in 2022 before moving to Lexington.
