Kentucky Places 145 Student-Athletes on SEC First-Year Academic Honor Roll

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University of Kentucky Athletics Department placed 145 student-athletes on the Southeastern Conference’s 2025-26 First Year Honor Roll, SEC commissioner Greg Sankey announced Tuesday afternoon.

The First-Year SEC Academic Honor Roll is based on grades from the 2025-26 academic calendar and includes any student-athlete who was in its first year at an SEC institution this past year.

Among other qualifications, a student-athlete must have a 3.0 grade-point average to be named to the list. Earlier this year, UK Athletics revealed that the 2026 spring semester marked the department’s 28th consecutive term with a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or higher.

UK Athletics supports the academic success of its student-athletes through CATS – the first academic center of its kind dedicated solely to serving student-athletes. CATS is an important component of UK’s Student-Athlete Experience division, launched as a renewal of the department’s commitment to preparing student-athletes for life after UK.

In May, 98 Wildcats received diplomas or certifications, giving UK Athletics a total of 123 graduates for the 2025-26 school year.  Also in May, the annual NCAA Academic Progress Rate was released, with UK Athletics earning a score of 991 – five points higher than the national average – out of a possible 1,000.
