Multiple Medals and Records Fall for Wildcats on Final Day of SEC Outdoor Championships

AUBURN, Ala. – The 2026 SEC Outdoor Championships came to a close today with the third and final day of competition in Auburn, Ala., which saw the Wildcats total one gold medal, two silver medals, two bronze medals, 10 top all-time program marks and 16 conference scorers.

Across the three-day championship meet, Kentucky finished the week with seven medals, including three golds. In the final standings, the women’s team finished fifth with 61 total points, the best finish since 2022. On the men’s side, the Wildcats placed 12th with 38 points.

Emmi Scales added the third gold medal of the week to the Wildcats’ tally, earning her second SEC Championship of the 2026 season. Her time of 12.64 features as a new career-best, the fourth-fastest time in school history and returns her to the top of the NCAA rankings heading into the final two meets of the season.

The men’s 4x100m relay team, consisting of Anthony Waterman, Denzel Simusialela, Oscar Baltan and Miles Jones, ran the sixth-fastest time in program history at 39.14 to place seventh in the opening track event of the day.

Simusialela earned a pair of medals on the evening, first in the men’s 100m final, placing third for a bronze medal and setting a new Kentucky record time of 10.04. Later in the night, the Wildcat senior would claim a silver medal in the 200m final, nearly breaking his career-best time at 19.98 for a second-place finish.

Janet Jepkemboi Amimo earned her second consecutive SEC silver medal through her first two collegiate seasons, winning silver in the women’s 800m and improving her Kentucky record time to 1:59.01. During last season’s championships in Lexington, Jepkemboi Amimo won a silver medal as a freshman in the 1500m event.

Vanice Kerubo Nyagisera improved her personal best and Kenyan national record time to 55.12 in the women’s 400m hurdles final, placing fourth and adding five points to the Wildcats tally.

In the final field events of the meet on the women’s side, sophomore Kaylee Daniel and senior Sarah Ferguson both set new personal best marks in the women’s pole vault event. Daniel placed fourth with a final height of 4.31m/14-1.75, moving into No. 3 in the UK record books, and Ferguson finished sixth with a height of 4.21m/13-9.25, the fourth-best mark in Wildcat history.

After earning gold during the indoor championships in February, Theo Mudzengerere took home a bronze medal in the men’s triple jump final, concluding the event with a mark of 16.58m/54-4.75.

In the final events of the meet, the men’s and women’s relay teams both posted top 10 program marks. The women’s team placed sixth with the third-fastest time in school history at 3:25.68 and the men’s team finished eighth with the 10th-best time in school history at 3:04.49.

Following the conclusion of the SEC Championships, the Wildcats will have a week off prior to playing host to the 2026 NCAA East First Round at the UK Outdoor Track & Field Complex on May 27-30.
