Kentucky Closes Out Texas Relays on Saturday

AUSTIN, Texas – The Kentucky Wildcats totaled three event wins, two records and one top 10 program marks on the final day of the Texas Relays in Austin, Texas.

This week in Austin, the Wildcats totaled six event wins, one school record, two national records and 12 top 10 program marks in an impressive outing.

Kate Powers kicked off the final day of action in the women’s discus throw event, placing second with a career-best mark of 49.87m/163-07.

In their first event of the season, the women’s 4x800m relay team, consisting of Lyric Olson, Doricah Minsari Isoe, Vanice Kerubo Nyagisera and Janet Jepkemboi Amimo, finished atop the leaderboard with a time of 8:24.18.

Kemarah Howard added another Kentucky record to her early career resume in the women’s high jump event, finishing second with the second-best mark in UK history at 1.88m/6-2.00. That mark also tied the 2026 NCAA lead and set a new Kentucky freshman record.

In the women’s 100m hurdles final, the Wildcats took three of the top four spots, including Emmi Scales finishing first at 12.82, Rukia Nusra Omulisia placing third at 13.13 and Camden Bentley finishing fourth at 13.14. Nusra Omulisia, for the second consecutive day, improved her Kenyan National Record time from 13.18 yesterday to 13.13 today.

In the final men’s individual track events, Anthony Waterman finished third in the 110m hurdles with a time of 13.78 and Miles Jones placed fourth in the 100m final at 10.28.

The men’s and women’s 4x400m relay teams capped off the week in Austin, with the men’s team placing first with a time of 3:09.34 and the women’s team finishing sixth at 3:34.73.

The Wildcats will have a week off next week before an upcoming dual meet weekend on Apr. 16-18 at the Tom Jones Memorial Invitational in Gainesville, Fla. and the Wake Forest Invitational in Winston-Salem, N.C.
