ATHENS, Ga. – The Kentucky women’s tennis team (9-12, 1-11 SEC) traveled to face No. 1 Georgia (14-4, 9-3 SEC) Wednesday, ultimately falling 4-1 in a tough SEC matchup. Despite the loss, Donna Le Roux continued her strong season with a singles victory over No. 92 Sofia Rojas.

The doubles competition got the day underway, with Asuncion Jadue and Reese Sager falling 6-2 to No. 15 Anastasiia Lopata and Patricija Paukstyte, while Donna Le Roux and Julia Zhu dropped a 6-2 decision to No. 7 Deniz Dilek and Aysegul Mert. Ellie Myers and Zoe Hammond battled from behind in a tight 4-3 match to Hayden Mulberry and Emma Dong before leaving things unfinished.

In singles action, Julia Zhu was defeated 6-2, 6-2 by No. 7 Aysegul Mert, and Zoe Hammond fell 6-1, 6-4 to No. 31 Anastasiia Lopata.

Le Roux earned the lone point for Kentucky with a 6-1, 6-4 victory over Rojas, a huge ranked victory for the freshman.

Meanwhile, Reese Sager and Asuncion Jadue each had matches that were unfinished, trailing in third-set play, against Georgia opponents Deniz Dilek and Patricija Paukstyte, respectively. Elena Molla also fell 6-2, 7-5 to No. 46 Anastasiia Gureva as Georgia clinched the match 4-1.

The Wildcats will continue conference play at South Carolina on Saturday, April 4, at 1 p.m. ET before concluding the regular season for a pair of matches at home next weekend.
