Seven-Run Lead Disappears in Series Finale Loss at LSU

Baton Rouge, La. – Kentucky saw a seven-run lead evaporate behind free bases and home runs as LSU mashed its way to a 17-10 victory on Sunday at Alex Box Stadium, claiming the series in the process.

Kentucky now is 21-6 overall and 5-4 in the Southeastern Conference.

No. 18 UK scored the first seven runs of the game but allowed six runs in the third inning as the Tigers turned four walks and a fielder’s choice into a grand slam from John Pearson into the Left Field Landing.

The Cats extended the lead back out to 10-6 in the fifth before LSU roared back again in the seventh. A pair of walks brought Seth Dardar to the plate with two outs and he cleared the right field bleachers with a no-doubt drive that gave the Tigers the lead for good at 11-10 and elicited a soaring bat flip by Dardar thar drew a warning from the umpiring crew.
