Peiser, Ceccarello, Adkins, Probst, Voss Earn All-GARC Honors
LEXINGTON, Ky. – Several members of the University of Kentucky rifle team were honored Friday evening at the Great America Rifle Conference annual banquet for their incredible seasons in the range with the Wildcats.
Junior Braden Peiser, senior Sofia Ceccarello and sophomores Sam Adkins and Liz Probst all earned All-GARC honors in several categories, while Peiser was named the GARC Shooter of the Year and Ceccarello the GARC Senior of the Year. Senior Martin Voss earned GARC Scholar-Athlete of the Year for his work in the classroom.
In smallbore, Peiser and Ceccarello we’re first-team honorees, while Adkins was second. In air rifle, Peiser was first team with Ceccarello and Adkins earning second-team honors and Probst honorable mention. Finally, in the combined category, Peiser and Ceccarello were first team with Adkins second team and Probst honorable mention.
Peiser is having an incredible season for Kentucky, leading the nation in smallbore average at 595.3 and aggregate average at 1193.3, while his 598 air rifle average is third nationally. Earlier this month, Peiser posted a NCAA record 599 in smallbore and tied a NCAA record with a 1198 aggregate score. He is the only athlete in the nation with a 597 or higher smallbore this season, accomplishing the feat four times.
Ceccarello is third on the team this season in aggregate average with a 1183.909, adding a 587.364 in smallbore and 596.545 in air rifle. Ceccarello has had a season high 594 in smallbore and 599 in air rifle this season.
Adkins is having a great season for Kentucky, ranking second on the team in averages. He is earning a 587.833 in smallbore and 596.75 in air rifle for a 1184.583 aggregate average. Adkins has two 593 smallbore scores this season with two 599 air rifles as well.
Probst has been a star for Kentucky, recording two perfect 600 air rifle scores in the last month alone. She is one of three athletes nationally to have multiple perfect 600s in the discipline. On the year, she is earning a 585 smallbore average and 596.6 air rifle average for a 1181.6 aggregate average.
