Kentucky Welcomes No. 16 Florida for Wear Black Night
LEXINGTON, Ky. –Kentucky (8-4, 1-1 SEC) closes its season-long eight-match homestand on Friday Night, hosting No. 16 Florida (6-5, 0-2 SEC) at the Hilary J. Boone Tennis Complex at 5 p.m. ET on February 27. Admission to the match is free to the public and fans are encouraged to wear black to the match. Free black t-shirts will be given out while supplies last and there will also be a giveaway raffle for some black UK hats.
The Wildcats return to the court after splitting a pair of matches during the opening weekend of Southeastern Conference play, defeating Tennessee and falling to No. 16 Texas A&M.
Kentucky and Florida will square off for the second time this season, with the Gators besting the Wildcats via a 4-2 decision in New York City during the opening round of ITA Kickoff Weekend.
Four Wildcats enter the match in the latest ITA Singles Rankings, led by No. 16 Eli Stephenson. The Louisville native is joined by No. 38 Jack Loutit, No. 91 Charlelie Cosnet, and No. 94 Nicolas Arseneault.
On the doubles side, Kentucky has won the doubles point in eight consecutive matches. The All-American pairing of Loutit and Stephenson currently rank No. 23 in the latest ITA Doubles Rankings and have a 5-1 record against ranked opponents this season.
Kentucky is 2-3 against ranked opponents this season, holding wins over No. 20 Michigan State and No. 15 Duke while falling twice to No. 25 Illinois and No. 16 Texas A&M.
Kentucky will play its first true road matches of the season next weekend, traveling west to match up with Oklahoma on March 6 at 6 p.m. ET and Arkansas on March 8 at 1 p.m. ET.
