LEXINGTON, Ky. – Kentucky women’s tennis (4-1) will play in a doubleheader on Saturday, hosting Xavier at 10 a.m. and Chicago State at 3 p.m. The Valentine’s Day matches will feature fun giveaways for fans, who are able to attend the matches for free.
The Wildcats are coming off a win last Sunday against Purdue, where they came up with the 4-2 victory for their fourth win on the season. Play was capitalized by a doubles win and singles victories from junior Julia Zhu, sophomore Asuncion Jadue, and freshman Reese Sager.
Jadue is the only Cat who has yet to lose a singles match, coming into this weekend with a 4-0 record on court three. Senior Zoe Hammond, who checked in at No. 93 in the first ITA singles rankings, has also made great strides and looks to continue her momentum. These two will lead Kentucky as they take on the Xavier Musketeers (1-2) and Chicago State Cougars (0-7) at the Hilary J. Boone Tennis Complex.
Women’s tennis aims to continue their momentum as they wrap up their nonconference season before heading into vigorous SEC play beginning on Feb. 21. Both of Saturday’s matches will be free admission, but fans that cannot attend are encouraged to follow the live results via StatBroadcast and the live stream on ukathletics.com.
