Kemarah Howard Sets New Freshman High Jump Record on Opening Day in Arkansas
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Wildcats concluded day one of the Razorback Invitational today in Fayetteville, Ark., highlighted by seven personal best marks, two top 10 program finishes and a new Kentucky freshman record.
Junior Julia Gunnell and sophomore Dahlia Beasley placed 10th and 12th in the women’s pentathlon in the meet’s first event. Gunnell highlighted her performance with a second-place finish in shot put with a career-best mark of 12.36m and Beasley handing in her best performance in the 800m, placing fourth with a time of 2:19.00.
In the women’s high jump, freshman Kemarah Howard set a new UK freshman High Jump Record, placing fourth with a final height of 1.85m/6-0.75. That mark ties former Wildcat Charity Hufnagel for second on the all-time top 10 list in program history.
Sophomore pole vaulter Kaylee Daniel set a new personal best mark in the women’s pole vault final with final distance of 4.15m/13-7.25 to finish in fifth place.
In the final event of the day, the women’s DMR team, consisting of Hannah Douglas, Doricah Minsari Isoe, Ally Kruger and Vanice Kerubo Nyagisera, placed sixth with a time of 10:56.93, the second-best time in program history.
Day two of the Razorback Invitational will kick off at 11:20 a.m. ET, starting with the first round of the women’s 3000m final and concluding with the men’s 4x400m relay at 6 p.m. ET.
