LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Kentucky women’s tennis team is back in full swing, kicking off their spring season at the Hilary J. Boone Tennis Complex on Saturday Jan. 17 at 4 p.m. against in-state opponent Eastern Kentucky. Admission is free for all fans, who are encouraged to come and cheer on the Cats all season long.

The Wildcats are a mix of veteran and newcomers as they head into the spring team season. Seniors Zoe Hammond and Ellie Myers, junior Julia Zhu, and sophomore Asuncion Jadue will play once again on the Boone indoor courts this weekend. Hammond and Zhu are both coming off a fall full of individual competition, but they look to lead the rest of the squad through a tough nonconference and SEC schedule that lies ahead of them.

The four newcomers include sophomore Indiana transfer Marina Fuduric and three freshmen in Reese Sager, Elena Molla, and Donna Le Roux. Fuduric, Sager, and Molla played with the team in the fall, entering singles and doubles matches in various events. Le Roux, a South African native, joined the team just last week as a spring semester enrollee for the Wildcats.

Kentucky will take on the Eastern Kentucky Colonels, who the team swept last year in a double header. Saturdays match at the Hilary J. Boone Complex will begin with first serve at 4 p.m. ET. Fans can follow along through StatBroadcast for scores or head to UKAthletics.com to watch the match live, and are encouraged to attend for free.
