Kevin Larsson Named Sun Belt Offensive Player of the Week

NEW ORLEANS, La. – Kentucky midfielder Kevin Larsson has been named this week’s Sun Belt Offensive Player of the Week, per the release from the conference office Tuesday afternoon.

Larsson features as the Wildcats’ first conference player of the week nod of the season following his two-goal performance in the 2-1 win over No. 20 Georgia Southern on Wednesday and recording the game-winning assist to Alex Ruiz in the 1-0 win over No. 10 West Virginia on Sunday.

The Wildcat midfielder has appeared in all 14 games this season for UK, recording eight starts and logging 881 total minutes on the pitch. This week’s award features as Larsson’s second career SBC weekly award, with his first on Oct. 22 of last season while playing for James Madison and scoring a brace against West Virginia.

Kentucky moved into first place in the Sun Belt Conference table last week with the pair of wins over top 20 opponents, improving their record to 6-1 in conference play and 9-2-3 on the season with just two games remaining prior to the start of the postseason.

Larsson and the Wildcats will close out their slate of regular season home matches on Friday, Oct. 31 on senior night in a Halloween matchup against the Georgia State Panthers at 7 p.m. ET at The Bell.
