Cathryn Brown Crowned Champion at The Johnie Imes Invitational

COLUMBIA, Mo. – Following a two-hour weather delay, the third round at The Johnie Imes Invitational at The Club at Old Hawthorne in Columbia, Missouri, was canceled at 1:32 p.m. ET on Tuesday. Cathryn Brown was crowned champion on a 137 (-7) across 36 holes, while the University of Kentucky women’s golf team finished runner-up with a 573 (-3).

While the final round was canceled, Brown, a junior from Eddyville, Kentucky, was 2-under through nine holes, holding a four-shot lead over her opponent sitting second on the individual leaderboard.

It marked Brown’s first tournament title in her college career. It also marked UK’s second tournament title through just two tournaments thus far in 2025-26.

The last time UK had more than one individual championship in a single season was 2018-19, when Leonie Bettel collected three trophies and Rikke Svejgård Nielsen won one. That also was the last time UK won back-to-back individual championships.

UK, as a team, turned in a 6-under in the first 18 holes and a 3-over on the second lap around the golf course to finish in second place at the Johnie Imes. The young lineup finished 11 shots behind team champions and host Missouri (-14) and 16 shots ahead of third place Wichita State (+13).

Through two tournaments this season, Kentucky has collected two individual championships and two top-three team finishes.

The Wildcats won’t compete again for nearly a month. Their next tournament is at the Ruth’s Chris Tar Heel Invitational at Finley Golf Club in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, from Oct. 17-19.
