Jepkemboi Amimo, Kiprop Kipngok Highlight Wildcats Strong Outing at Southern Showcase
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The Kentucky Wildcats have completed their second race of the 2025 season today at the annual Southern Showcase in Huntsville, Ala., hosted by Jacksonville State University.
As a team, the Wildcats finished third in both the men’s and women’s races, totaling 126 points on the men’s side and 166 for the women’s.
The men’s 8k kicked off the event this morning, as SEC outdoor track and field gold medalist Collins Kiprop Kipngok, in his first race of 2025, placed 10th with a time of 23:44.2. Freshman Levi Kiphurui Bachi, in his first collegiate race, finished inside the top 15 in 14th place with a mark of 23:50.9, the 10th-best 8k mark in Kentucky history.
Sophomore star Janet Jepkemboi Amimo highlighted the Wildcats’ finish on the women’s side with a second-place finish and the fourth-fastest time in program history in a 5k race with a time of 16:30.4. Senior Ally Kruger also finished inside the top 10 for the second consecutive race, placing seventh with a 16:49.7 time, the seventh-fastest time in UK history.
The Wildcats will have a week off before returning to action on Friday, Sept. 26 in Stillwater, Okla. for the Cowboy Jamboree at the Greiner Family XC Course on the campus of Oklahoma State University.
