Jepkemboi Amimo Finishes Second at Tennessee Invitational, Wildcats Place Second and Third in Season Opener
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The 2025 season is officially underway!
The Kentucky Wildcats kicked off the new season in Knoxville, Tenn. at the Tennessee XC Invitational at the UT XC Course, finishing second and third in the women’s 3-Mile and men’s 4-Mile races, respectively.
Fresh off her record-breaking freshman campaign during the outdoor track season, sophomore Janet Jepkemboi Amimo highlighted the opening race of the season for the Wildcats, finishing second with a personal-best time of 16:39.95. Senior Ally Kruger finished just one spot behind Amimo in third with a time of 16:48.48. Lyric Olson and Ava Hendren would also finish inside the top 10 for the Wildcats, placing eighth and 10th. Noel Barlette also earned points for Kentucky, placing 14th with a time of 17:45.72.
On the men’s side, Kentucky placed third with 65 total points, highlighted by senior Alex Alston placing 13th with a time of 20:20.57. Newcomer Eyan Turk, Miles Brush, Caden Miracle, Lincoln Herald and Anthony Anania would round out the leaderboard for the Cats.
The next race for the Wildcats will be in Huntsville, Ala. on Friday, Sept. 12 for the Southern Showcase hosted by Jackson State University.
