Men’s Soccer Announces 2025 Signing Class

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Kentucky Wildcats men’s soccer program and head coach Johan Cedergren have announced the signings of 12 incoming additions to the roster for the upcoming 2025 season.

The first signing of 2025 for Kentucky is is forward Joaquin Brizuela, a sophomore from Mendoza, Argentina. He joins the Wildcats as a transfer from the University of Virginia. In his lone season with the Cavaliers, Brizuela produced 10 points, including four goals and a pair of assists, which was good for a share of third on the team, in 15 appearances and 11 starts. Following his freshman season, Brizuela was an All-ACC Academic Team selection.

Mekhi Haughton-Parris, a product of English Championship side Sheffield United FC’s youth academy, played on the team’s U18 squad for two seasons before moving to the U21s. Haughton-Parris is an English-International, hailing from Reading, primarily featuring as a left fullback in his two seasons with at Sheffield United.

The Wildcats also added four incoming freshmen to the lineup, including midfielder Marcus Andersen from Greve, Denmark, goalkeeper Dillon Griner from Atlanta, Ga. and forward Daniel Isaac from London, England.

Owen Mikoy is a graduate defender from Atlanta, Ga. He transfers to Kentucky after four seasons at Campbell University from 2020-2024. During his four-year career at Campbell, Mikoy appeared in 49 matches, including 37 starts in central defense, scoring two goals, three assists and seven points.

Tiago Honorio Jr. comes to Lexington from São Paulo, Brazil as a senior forward. He transfers to Kentucky from Pearl River Community College in Poplarville, Miss. The Brazilian-international is coming off a historic season, scoring 30 goals, second-most in NJCAA DII in 2024, 10 assists and 70 points for the Wildcats. He racked up an impressive list of season accolades, including First Team All-MACCC, MACCC Player of the Year and NJCAA All-Tournament Team.

Kevin Larsson, hailing from Helsinki, Uusimaa, Finland, joins the Wildcats after playing the previous three seasons with Sun Belt opposition James Madison. The Finish international totaled 11 goals and 11 assists in 56 total appearances during his three seasons with the Dukes, including his first career brace against Duquesne (8/24/23). In 2023, Larsson earned All-Sun Belt Second Team honors following his sophomore season. That same year, he was also named JMU’s Athletic Director’s Scholar-Athlete for the fall semester.

Hayden Owens is a junior goalkeeper from Frisco, Texas. He joins the Wildcats as a transfer from Mary Hardin-Baylor University after spending two seasons with the Crusaders. In 2023 following his freshman season, he was named ASC Co-Goalkeeper of the Year, ASC Defensive Freshman of the Year and First Team All-ASC. He recorded 39 total saves during the season, allowing just 10 goals and picking up five clean sheets.

The next signing is Gustav Renman, who moves to Lexington from Stockholm, Sweden as a first-year freshman. He is primarily positioned as a central defender, most recently playing for Anna Whitlock High School.

Alejandro Ruiz, a native of Valencia, Spain, transfers to Kentucky after four seasons with Northwestern University in Iowa. He enters his final year of collegiate eligibility as a graduate student, positioned as a central midfielder.

JJ Vozar comes to Kentucky from Pittsburgh, Pa. and Milford High School in Ohio. Vozar also played in FC Cincinnati’s youth academy for two seasons.
