Team Records and Series Notes

  • Kentucky is now 20-10 overall, the 68th 20-win season in school history. The Wildcats are 9-8 in the Southeastern Conference.
  • LSU is 14-16 overall, 3-14 in league play.
  • Kentucky leads the series 93-29, including 48-6 in games played in Lexington.
    • This is the third time that UK and LSU have met on Mardi Gras. UK is now 3-0 in those games, which includes the “Mardi Gras Miracle” on Feb. 15, 1994, when the Wildcats rallied from 31 points down to win 99-95. That game remains tied for the largest second-half comeback in Division I history.
  • Mark Pope is 207-118 as head coach, including 20-10 at Kentucky.
    • This is Pope’s seventh 20-win season as a head coach, all coming in the last eight years.
  • Next for Kentucky: UK completes the regular season Saturday at Missouri. Game time is noon Eastern (11 a.m. Central in Columbia) and it will be televised on ESPN.

  • Tonight’s game was Senior Night for Ansley Almonor, Koby Brea, Lamont Butler, Andrew Carr, Jaxson Robinson and Amari Williams.
    • Kentucky is now 53-6 all-time in games in which its seniors are honored.
    • The 31-point margin of victory was the largest for UK on senior day since 2003 vs. Vanderbilt
  • Kentucky finished 15-3 at home, most home wins in the last three seasons.
  • Kentucky shot 50.7 percent from the field (36 of 71). UK is 13-1 this season when shooting at least 50 percent.

  • Kentucky had 22 assists tonight, most since dishing 25 in the win vs. Florida.
    • With 22 assists and eight turnovers, the margin of +14 ties for the fourth-best margin of the season.
  • Kentucky had 13 steals tonight, tying for the second-most this season.

 

Player Notes  

  • Otega Oweh led all players tonight with 24 points and eight rebounds.
    • 24 points is his second-most this season.
    • He added three assists and three steals.
  • Brandon Garrison scored 15 points, tying his season high. He also had four assists and tied his season best for steals with three.
  • Ansley Almonor notched a season-best 15 points.
  • Collin Chandler hit a career-best three 3-pointers en route to a career-high 11 points. He also had a career-best four assists.

  • Kentucky’s starters were Lamont Butler, Koby Brea, Otega Oweh, Andrew Carrand Amari Williams, a lineup that has been used the last two games.
  • First substitution was Trent Noah at 15:46.
  • After LSU tallied the first basket, Kentucky ripped a 15-0 run – the Wildcats’ third-longest of the season and largest since a 16-0 spurt vs. Florida.
  • LSU rallied to pull within 18-10 but the Wildcats responded with a 12-0 streak – the last nine by Oweh – to make the count 30-10.
  • Kentucky’s largest lead of the half was 27 points, the halftime score of 50-23.
    • It is UK’s largest halftime lead of the season, previous 24 points vs. Jackson State.
    • It is UK’s largest halftime lead on Senior Night since a 27-point lead vs. LSU in 1995.
