Kentucky-Auburn Postgame Quotes
KENTUCKY BASKETBALL POSTGAME QUOTES
KENTUCKY VS. AUBURN
HISTORIC MEMORIAL COLISEUM – LEXINGTON, KY.
JANUARY 12, 2025
Coach Kenny Brooks’s Opening Statement
“Really good win for us and obviously when you are playing an SEC opponent, especially one like Auburn, who thrives on the defensive end and tries to muddy the game up. I thought Georgia did a phenomenal job of handling the pressure. We still need to rebound the ball a little bit better. We got into foul trouble so we are kind of mixing and matching. We really couldn’t get into a full rhythm in the second half but that was a really good win for us heading into the bye. That is much-needed rest. We got great production from Georgia, I think Dazia Law (Lawrence) was tremendous and took some really great shots. Teonni Key was really good for us, relieving some pressure and getting some baskets into the hole. I thought Clara Strack performed really well on Clara Strack Day. If you guys don’t know you need to know. Clara Strack Day is really big around our program and we celebrate it like we do Christmas, you guys got to get on board with that. It was special, really fun, and a good win for us. We’ll use this week for much-needed rest and some much-needed practice time. We haven’t had much practice time in the last couple of weeks.”

On BBN embracing her in her first and only year…
“It’s been great so far. I think in our first couple of games, some people showed up and there was kind of some excitement around the program. But I think we’ve been doing our job getting some really solid wins and starting SEC play. We can be picky and point out the things that we did badly but to have consecutive games of nearly 20-point wins is phenomenal for SEC play considering someone like Auburn played LSU last week and only won by 10. I think we’re putting on a show. We’re trying to get people to come and support us.”
On handling in-game pressure…
“My main duty is to control the tempo of the game and relieve all the pressure. I think just generally, watching basketball and the SEC conference it’s the defensive stuff. You don’t really know what looks you’re going to get or what teams are going to throw at you. I think I’m doing a much better job personally than I have in years prior to not getting sped up. I think teams like this, where they try and muddy the game, it’s just we can do whatever defensively and I know we have a lot to build off of but offense, I think we controlled that. I don’t think, aside from them getting in the passing lanes and kind of pushing us out of our movement sets we still had great scoring opportunities when we got downhill and attacked. The team that has great bigs can make passes like that. I think we’re getting used to sharing the ball and we’re getting a lot smarter with it.”
