Freshman School Record Holder – Weight and Hammer Throws

2002: Outdoor – In the hammer throw, took first place at the Cardinal Open, while finishing third in her flight at the Stanford Invitational with a UK freshman-record toss of 172-09.00… Placed eighth in the discus at the SEC Championships to score for UK… Placed second in the discus at the Gatorade Classic with a personal best throw of 162-20.00. Indoor – Set personal and freshman records in the weight throw at the Iowa State Classic with her provisional-qualifying throw of 59-01.50…Also shattered her personal best in the shot put with a seventh-place toss of 46-04.00 at the SEC East Championships.

High School: Finished second in the California State Championship meet in the discus with a toss of 162- 05-00… Also qualified for the state meet in the shot put… Holds school records in both events… Was the Arcadia Invitational Champion in the discus… Her throw of 163-03.00 in high school ranked her fourth in the country as a senior… Was a 2001 Track and Field News All-American in the discus… Also played basketball and volleyball.

Personal: Born Aug. 23, 1983… Parents are Stella and Randy Guzman… Majoring in biology.
