Women’s Soccer Hosts Unbeaten Jacksonville State Sunday

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Kentucky women’s soccer (3-0-0) hosts Jacksonville State (2-0-0) in a battle of the unbeatens at the Bell Soccer Complex Sunday afternoon with a 1 p.m. kickoff. The Wildcats, who defeated Detroit Mercy (0-3-0) Thursday evening, 2-0, look to keep their undefeated streak to start their 2024 campaign.

Thursday night’s victory was the Wildcats’ third straight game with a scoreline of 2-0 this season and marked the first time in program history the Cats’ opened the first three games of a season without conceding a goal.

Kentucky’s freshmen proved to be the difference again as Alexis Tylenda and Michelle Moskau both provided goals in the win. It marked Tylenda’s second goal of her career while Moskau scored her first. Both Grace Hoytink and Grace Phillpotts earned assists on the night. The Wildcats finished the game outshooting the Titans 30-1 with seven shots on goal to Detroit’s one with a season-high 16 total corner kicks.

Jacksonville State enters the match after not playing on Thursday night. The Gamecocks last played a game on Sunday, August 18th where they defeated North Alabama 5-0. The goals came from midfielder Melissa Kuya Strobel and forward Naroa Domenech who scored two each in the victory. Midfielder Tori Paul had the fifth. Sunday’s game will mark the first-ever meeting between the two programs.

Season tickets for all Kentucky soccer men’s and women’s home games can be purchased here, while single-game tickets are available here. The game will also be available on SECN+.
