Gymnastics Travels to UNC for Non-Conference Matchup
LEXINGTON, Ky. – No. 6 Kentucky gymnastics (7-4, 4-3 SEC) will travel to Chapel Hill, N.C. to face UNC (5-10, 1-5 ACC) for a Friday evening matchup in Carmichael Arena at 7:30 p.m. EST.
The Wildcats are coming off a home loss and program record 198.100 scored against conference opponent No. 4 Florida. SEC Specialist of the Week, Makenzie Wilson, scored her second perfect 10.0 on vault as she won her 7th individual title on the apparatus. Fifth-year senior Raena Worley also earned a perfect 10.00 on floor to tally her 24th victory on the event.
As a team, Kentucky tied its top program floor score (49.750) which was set on Excite Night in January against Georgia. The Cats are currently ranked No. 3 in the nation on the event while also holding the No. 3 vault ranking for the second consecutive week.
The Tar Heels enter Friday’s contest after a second-place finish at the Nebraska Quad Meet where they took on Nebraska, Illinois State and Southeast Missouri State. UNC scored a 195.200 in the quad competition.
