Women’s Swimming’s Bridget Engel, Grace Frericks Selected to NCAA Championships
LEXINGTON, Ky. – Two Kentucky swimmers have been selected to compete at the 2024 NCAA Women’s Swimming & Diving Championships, it was announced on Wednesday.
Senior Bridget Engel and Sophomore Grace Frericks both earned invitations to the meet which will be hosted at the Bauerle Pool in the Gabrielsen Natatorium on the campus of the University of Georgia in Athens. The meet is set to take place March 20-23.
Engel and Frericks both return to the championships for the second consecutive year. Engel is qualified to compete in the 100 and 200 breaststroke while Frericks has earned bids for the 100 and 200 backstroke along with the 200 freestyle.
Engel enters the Championships with the 26th best time in the nation in the 100 breast, an event she placed 35th in a year ago. Frericks, meanwhile, holds the 19th fastest seed time in the 200 backstroke. She placed 27th in the event at NCAAs last year.
The UK women will look to add to their NCAA roster at the Zone C Diving Championships, March 14-16 at the University of Louisville.
Last season, the Wildcats placed 19th at NCAAs with 49 points. That result marked the sixth consecutive top-20 for the women’s team, dating back to 2017.
