DeLong, Housman See Success at Louisville First Chance Meet
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Lily Delong was victorious in the Women’s 100 Butterfly while Paige Housman nabbed the top spot in the Women’s 200 Butterfly as Kentucky Swimming wrapped up its time at the Louisville First Chance Meet on Thursday and Friday. In addition to the two event wins, the Wildcats saw four podium finishes and two collegiate bests at the Ralph Wright Natatorium.
The trio that represented Kentucky at the meet was led by freshman Paige Housman on Thursday, who recorded the top time in the Women’s 200 Butterfly (2:06.35) and placed second in the Women’s 200 Individual Medley (2:04.47). Delong followed suit, earning second place in the Women’s 100 Freestyle (51.35) along with her win in the Women’s 100 fly (57.20). The freshman also set a career best in the 100 backstroke time trial with a swim of 55.78. McInerney saw success as he added two podium finishes over the two-day meet, with the first coming in the Men’s 100 Butterfly (50.25) where he placed second, and the other in the Men’s 100 Freestyle (45.52), in which he took third, with both times setting new collegiate bests for the sophomore.
The Cats look ahead to the SEC Championships, spanning Feb. 19-24 at the James E. Martin Aquatic Center on the campus of Auburn University.
