Team Records and Series Notes  

• Kentucky is 9-14 overall and 2-7 in the Southeastern Conference in 2023-24, while Georgia is 11-11 overall and 2-7 in the conference this season.
• The University of Kentucky women’s basketball program is in its 50th season.
  • UK has a 903-602 (.600) all-time record.
• Kyra Elzy is in her fourth season as the head coach of the Wildcats, holding a 58-54 (.518) overall record.
  • She has a 21-35 overall record in the SEC.
• The Bulldogs remain the leader over the Wildcats in the all-time series, 41-22, and in Athens, 19-8.
• Kentucky will have its second bye game this upcoming week before hosting Texas A&M on Sunday, Feb. 11 at 4 p.m. ET at Rupp Arena at Central Bank Center in Lexington, Kentucky.

• Kentucky used the starting combination Brooklynn Miles, Maddie Scherr, Amiya Jenkins, Emma King and Ajae Petty for the third straight game and the third game this season.
  • UK is 0-3 when using that starting combination.
• The Wildcats won the opening tip for the 16th game this season.
• Maddie Scherr was the first player to score for Kentucky for the fifth game this season.
• Eniya Russell was the first substitute off the bench for Kentucky for a team-lead nine games this season.

• Kentucky’s 15-point lead in the first quarter was its largest scoring margin the first quarter against any Southeastern Conference opponent on the road since quarters began in 2015-16.
• The Wildcats shot 41.1 percent from the field (25-56) and 46.2 percent from the arc (6-13), while the Bulldogs shot 44.6 percent overall (25-56) and 23.1 percent from the arc (3-13).
  • The Cats went 13-of-20 from the line, as the Dogs went 19-of-22 from the line.

How It Happened

• The Wildcats got off to a 10-3 start at the first media timeout (4:44) thanks to 4-of-9 shooting from the field and 2-of-2 shooting from the arc. In that five minutes and 16 seconds, the Cats held the Dogs to 1-of-6 from the field and turned the Dogs over four times.
• Kentucky’s impressive shooting never stalled in the first quarter, as UK led UGA, 22-7, at the end of the first quarter.
  • In fact, UK’s sharp shooting, including Saniah Tyler’s 3-of-3 from long range, forced UGA to burn two timeouts down the stretch of that period.
  • UK shot 45 percent from the field and 67 percent from the arc, while UGA shot 25 percent from the field and 0 percent from the arc, in the first quarter.
• Kentucky maintained its lead over Georgia, 30-17, at the second quarter media timeout (3:44), despite scoring being much more even to start the period.
  • Georgia went on a 15-0 run in the final four minutes to tie the game, 30-30, at halftime.
• Amiya Jenkins scored a layup on the first possession of the third quarter to take a two-point lead, however Georgia responded with a 10-0 run to then take a 40-32 lead that forced Kentucky into its second timeout of the game at 7:27.
  • Saniah Tyler disrupted UGA’s scoring run with a layup followed by a pair of free throws, before she was taken out of the game for earning her fourth foul. Georgia maintained a two-possession lead over Kentucky, 40-46, with four minutes and 43 seconds remaining in the period.
    • Including Tyler’s personal 4-0 run, UK turned that into a 10-2 run to tie the game, 42-42, at 2:18.
  • Kentucky trailed Georgia by just one possession, 47-45, at the end of the third quarter.
• The Bulldogs outscored the Wildcats, 11-7, in the first four minutes and 24 second of the fourth quarter, as the Dogs stretched their lead to six points.
  • The Bulldogs held at least a two-possession lead almost all the way down the stretch, until Saniah Tyler knocked down a 3-pointer to get within three points, 65-68, at 1:08.
  • Georgia’s shot attempt was no good and Maddie Scherr grabbed the defensive rebound with 22 seconds remaining.
  • Kentucky couldn’t get a shot off, instead turned the ball over and Saniah Tyler earned her fifth foul.
  • Georgia went to the line and made two with 14.9 seconds on the clock.
  • Kentucky lost to Georgia, 72-65.

Player Notes

• Ajae Petty, a senior forward, led Kentucky with 25 points.
  • It marked the sixth time this season and the sixth game in her career she has recorded 20+ points.
    • It marked the 16th time this season and the 26th time in her career she has recorded 10+ points.
  • She added five rebounds, two steals, an assist and a block.
    • She has recorded at least two steals in 11 games this season and 16 games in her career.
  • Saniah Tyler, a sophomore guard, had 18 points off of 6-of-7 from the field, 4-of-4 from the arc and 2-of-2 from the line.
    • It marked the third game this season and of her career she has scored 15+ points.
      • It marked the 12th game this season and of her career she has scored 10+ points.
    • Tyler, who played just 22 minutes and fouled out, added one rebound.
