Makenzie Wilson Named SEC Specialist of the Week
LEXINGTON, Ky. – Junior Makenzie Wilson has been named Southeastern Conference Specialist of the Week due to her perfect performance on vault, the conference announced on Tuesday.
The Clinton, Tenn. native earned the first perfect 10.000 ever recorded in Rupp Arena in Central Bank Center since Excite Night began 40 years ago. The mark was also the first for the program since the legendary Jenny Hansen competed for the Wildcats, 1992-96.
Wilson’s front handspring pike with a half twist was nothing short of perfection as she ended the first rotation of the meet in the anchor position. Her previous career and season best was a 9.975 which she earned last season against Auburn (03/03/23). She has now recorded four individual wins on the event.
The Cats will head to No. 6 Alabama on Friday for an 8:30 p.m. EST meet on SEC Network before returning home to Lexington the following week to host No. 9 Missouri (2/9).
Season and single-meet tickets are on sale and can be purchased through UKAthletics.com.
