LEXINGTON, Ky. ?Kentucky junior guard Patrick Sparks has been named the National Player of the Week by The Sporting News, ESPN.com and Dick Vitale after sinking three free throws to seal a 60-58 come-from-behind win over No. 13 Louisville Saturday.
The Central City, Ky., native also earned Southeastern Conference Player of the Week honors after totaling a season-high 25 points, including five three-pointers, in the road victory over the Cardinals. The Wildcats were down 16 points at halftime but climbed back in the game after 18 second-half points from Sparks. It tied the school record for largest halftime deficit overcome.
