Kentucky returns home riding high after a thrilling 60-58 victory over rival Louisville Saturday. The Wildcats face William & Mary for the first time in school history in the team?s final game before the Christmas holiday.
Junior Patrick Sparks was clutch for Kentucky on the road Saturday, pouring in 25 points, including 18 in the second half, to help Kentucky overcome a 16-point halftime deficit for the win. Sparks nailed three free throws with less than a second remaining to provide the winning margin and tie the school record for largest halftime deficit overcome.
The victory over the Cardinals was Kentucky?s first in three years. Tubby Smith earned his second victory over former boss Rick Pitino before a Freedom Hallrecord crown of 20,088 fans.
The Cats will enjoy a short holiday break before returning to campus to prepare for next week?s battle with Campbell. Another week-long break follows before UK opens Southeastern Conference play against South Carolina Jan. 5.
