Loutit's Run to Semifinals Highlights ITA Regional Championships

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – Kentucky men’s tennis representatives competed at the 2023 ITA DI Men’s Ohio Valley Regional Championships, Oct. 12-16, at the University of Tennessee Chattanooga. A total of four Wildcats participated in the singles action, while UK also had two doubles tandems entered.

Freshman Jack Loutit made an impressive run to the semifinals in the singles draw, winning five matches to lead the way for Kentucky. Loutit, the No. 9 seeded player in the event, took out three seeded players on the week, including the No. 2 overall seed, Memphis’ Pablo Alemany, in the quarterfinals.

All four Kentucky singles players won at least one match, while freshman Matthew Rankin and sophomore Charlelie Cosnet each tallied two victories to reach the Round of 32.

UK’s doubles teams of Rankin and Christophe Clement, along with Cosnet and JJ Mercer, each dropped their first-round matches in closely contested tiebreak sets.
