Emma Grome and Adanna Rollins Win SEC Weekly Awards
LEXINGTON, Ky. – Kentucky Volleyball setter Emma Grome and outside hitter Adanna Rollins both won Southeastern Conference weekly awards, the league office announced Monday afternoon.
Grome was named the SEC’s Player of the Week and Setter of the Week with Rollins taking home the title of SEC Offensive Player of the Week. For Grome, it is her fourth time winning SEC Setter of the Week honors while Rollins collects her first-career SEC weekly award.
Grome had 14.00 assists per set over the weekend and helped No. 20 Kentucky hit .409 on the weekend as a team in two matches as the Wildcats swept Auburn in a two-match series. Grome had 46 assists as UK hit .369 on Saturday with a 38-assists performance Sunday as the Wildcats hit .630 in the first set and .456 as a team for the match. The Loveland, Ohio native has recorded 35+ assists in all 11 SEC matches to this point in the season and also had five aces. With three aces Saturday and a pair Sunday, Grome now has an ace in three-straight matches and 2+ aces in three of the last five matches in the league.
Rollins led Kentucky in kills in both matches this weekend as she had 17 kills Saturday and 12 kills Sunday en route to two sweeps of the Tigers in Lexington. Rollins for the weekend hit .490 as an outside hitter, including a blistering .550 on Sunday as she had 12 kills to just one error in the match. Rollins also recorded her fifth match this season with 10+ digs on Saturday with 10. She also had three aces and only four errors all weekend on over 50 swings.
