Officially opened on October, 5, 2012, the facility provides the UK track and field program with a state-of-the-art training and competition venue.
The track was site of the 2014 Southeastern Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships and the 2017 NCAA East Preliminary Championships, which welcomed more than 10,000 fans over three days.
With grandstand seating for nearly 3,000 spectators, a video scoreboard to go along with a beautiful Meet Administration Building, the UK Track and Field program boasts one of the finest homes in the country and the world.
The UK Track is located on the UK Campus adjacent to the Cliff Hagan Baseball Stadium as well as many more of the UK Athletics Facilities. The facility is outfitted with a world class nine-lane blue synthetic polyurethane track, two dual-directional runways for jumps, as well as ample room for throwing and jumping events. The facility also boasts a practice track runway to make it among the nation’s most innovative training sites.
The Outdoor Facility is built on the site of the former Shively Track, which stood on the UK campus since 1959.
