LEXINGTON – The Bluegrass Sports Commission (BSC) today named Kentucky’s Michael Kidd-Gilchrist the Most Valuable Player of today’s men’s basketball game between the University of Kentucky and the University of Louisville. The Wildcats won the game 69-62.
Kidd-Gilchrist, a freshman, had 24 points and 19 rebounds in leading his team to victory in one of college basketball’s biggest rivalries.
“We are proud to present this award to Michael Kidd-Gilchrist,” said BSC Executive Director Terry Johnson. “In a very intense rivalry game, Michael stood out with an incredible all-around effort.”
Kidd-Gilchrist will receive a trophy in recognition of his achievement. The award was given to former UK forward and current New York Knick Josh Harrellson in 2010.
