Georgia on the Mind: Cats Ride Momentum into Athens

ATHENS, Ga. – Having dispatched of Western Carolina on Wednesday, the No. 8 Wildcats made the short trip over to Athens for this weekend’s SEC East matchup with No. 18 Georgia, which begins Friday night at Foley Field. The Cats have won five of their past six games and seven of 10 as they look to claim a second straight league series.
 
  The Cats will arrive with one of the nation’s top offenses, ranking in the nation’s top 10 in slugging percentage (2nd), home runs (2nd), on-base percentage (3rd), batting average (5th), runs scored (5th), doubles (6th) and hits (8th). The Cats also rank 24th in bases on balls. They have scored double-digit runs 14 times in 33 games, including twice over the weekend against South Carolina.
 
  Georgia finished the 2017 season with momentum – and likely knocked UK out of a national seed when it took two of three in Lexington on late rallies – and has carried it over this season, jumping out to a fast start and forcing national analysts to take note. Senior Keegan McGovern has blasted 10 home runs while hitting .364 to power the Bulldogs.
 
  First pitch on Friday and Saturday will be at 7 p.m. ET and Sunday at noon. The series opener will be streamed on SECN+ and the last two games aired on the SEC Network. Darren Headrick will have the radio call for the Cats.
