Kentucky-Miami University Baseball Moved to Tuesday

by UK Media Relations

LEXINGTON, Ky. Having played nine of the past 10 games against ranked opponents No. 6 Kentucky will host Miami University in a mid-week affair before resuming Southeastern Conference play at Alabama this weekend. The RedHawks are 13-6 overall with two victories at national power Arizona State earlier this season.

The game has been moved from Wednesday to Tuesday evening due to an unfavorable weather forecast.

The Cats claimed their second series win over a top 10 team by taking two of three games vs. #9 Auburn over the weekend. They rallied for a walk-off win on Friday with a three-run ninth inning and scored a dominant win in the series finale   on Sunday. Luke Heyer’s two-run, game-tying, ninth-inning home run in the walk-off win helped propel him to being named SEC Player of the Week for the second time in the first six weeks of the season.

Outside of two innings the Cats’ pitching was terrific over the weekend, capped by righty Justin Lewis’ victory while giving up just one hit and one run in 5.0 innings of work. Righties Alec Maley and Jimmy Ramsey also starred out of the         bullpen when the Cats needed them most.

First pitch on Tuesday is set for 6 p.m. (SECN+) and Darren Headrick will have the radio call on 630 AM WLAP.
