Walker Montgomery to Play Season-Opening Pregame Concert

by Guy Ramsey

LEXINGTON, Ky. – After winning a fan vote in August, emerging singer Walker Montgomery will play the first Kentucky Football Pregame Concert of the season before the Wildcats take on Eastern Kentucky in their home opener on Saturday.

The concert will take place on the stage in the plaza outside Gate 12 of Kroger Field. Montgomery will play immediately following the Cat Walk presented by Chevy, which is set to begin at 9:45 a.m. The game will kick off at noon.

Montgomery emerged victorious from among eight local musical acts nominated to play the season-opening concert, winning three rounds of voting on Twitter. All totaled, more than 16,000 votes were cast.

Montgomery is an 18-year-old aspiring singer, as well as a UK student and Kentucky football fan, from Nicholasville, Kentucky. He is the son of country music star, John Michael Montgomery, and nephew of Eddie Montgomery, of Montgomery Gentry.

The Wildcats opened the 2017 season with a victory at Southern Miss last weekend and will host in-state foe Eastern Kentucky at noon on Saturday. Tickets – including season tickets and specially priced $30 Heroes’ Day tickets benefiting Homes For Our Troops – can be purchased at UKFootballTix.com.
