Kentucky Track & Field to Open Outdoor Season at USF Alumni Invitational

LEXINGTON, Ky. — The University of Kentucky track and field program will travel to Tampa, Florida this week to start the outdoor season at the USF Alumni Invitational hosted by the University of South Florida.

The Wildcats begin the outdoor season after the men’s team finished 11th at the NCAA Indoor Championships. It marked the best finish for Head Coach Lonnie Greene since taking over the program in 2018 and the best finish for the Wildcats since 1996 when they finished seventh with 22 points. It also marks the eighth top-15 finish for the men in program history and the first since 2021 where they finished 14th with 12 points.

The competition begins on Friday, March 15 at 12:30 p.m. ET with the men’s hammer throw.

Saturday’s events begin at 11 a.m. ET with the men’s discus throw.

The Wildcats will compete against Ball State, Bethune-Cookman, Grand Valley State, Howard, Iowa, Iowa State, Michigan, Ohio State, Pittsburgh, Purdue, Southern Illinois, Southern Florida, St. John’s, Tampa, Temple, Troy, and Vanderbilt.
