Alex Goff Tabbed All-SEC, Tanner Parks Named to Community Service Team

by Greg Welsh

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Graduate Alex Goff was named Second Team All-Southeastern Conference, while senior Tanner Parks was recognized on the league’s Community Service Team as the SEC released its 2024 men’s golf awards on Friday.

For Goff, the selection marks his second-straight nod to the second team and comes as he gets set to compete in his fourth-consecutive NCAA Regional next week. Goff has posted a career-best scoring average of 70.21 in 10 events this season, the lowest single season mark at UK since at least 1993-94. He has been a consistent presence at the top of leaderboards with nine top-15 finishes to go along with 20 rounds of par-or-better this season.

A dependable scorer, Goff was a counting score for the team in all 28 of his rounds this year. He collected three runner-up finishes in a span of four tournaments this past fall, including at the Steelwood Collegiate Invitational where he finished with a season low total of 10-under par. Goff was UK’s top-finisher at the 2024 SEC Championships, placing T14 at 2-under par. Graduating this spring with his MBA, Goff was also named the 2024 Men’s Golf SEC Scholar Athlete of the Year last month. He becomes the first Wildcat to be named to the SEC’s first or second team in consecutive years since Andy Winings in 2008 and 2009.

The native of Kings Mountain, N.C. will tee it up as an individual at the NCAA Baton Rouge Regional, May 13-15, as he looks to earn a spot at the 2024 NCAA Championships.

Parks represents Kentucky on the SEC Community Service Team after totaling more than 160 hours of service time dating back to last June. The 2024 graduate has been involved with numerous service projects and organizations including serving as a camp leader at FCA Leadership Camp, mentoring and tutoring students at Booker T. Washington Elementary School, interacting with youth at the Kentucky Children’s Hospital and more. Parks is a four-time Academic All-SEC selection and has competed in five events over the course of his time at Kentucky. He also received the Community Service Award at the 2024 CATSPY Awards.
