Earned the starting goalkeeper post in a preseason training position battle with junior Jack Van Arsdale … Started the season opener at Dayton, saving six shots and allowing four goals in a 4-3 loss, seeing 15 total shots and making several jaw-dropping saves that showcased tremendous talent … After Van Arsdale got the start in the next two games at the Gamecock Classic in Columbia, S.C., Irving returned to the starting keeper position with his first career clean sheet in Johan Cedergren’s first career win … Worked around two St. Joe’s shots in his first career win, saving one … Started the following game, against No. 4 Charlotte, allowing a first half goal before Van Arsdale manned the pipes in the second period … After Van Arsdale turned in a heroic performance at No. 18 Louisville to spark a UK turnaround, Irving served as the back-up keeper for the remainder of the year.
Pre-College
A highly sought after net-minder from the Vancouver, British Columbia, attended Sir Winston Churchill Secondary and Burnaby Secondary School … Played for the MLS Vancouver Whitecaps as a prospect from 2007 to 2012 … During the 2012 season he helped the Whitecaps U-18 team to a win/ berth in the USSDA Finals, posting a goals against average of 1.18 and helping the Whitecaps to a 17-3-2 record … For the 2010 season with Vancouver, Irving posted a 2.00 GAA in 270 minutes of action … In the 2009 club season, Irving helped the BC Provincial Team U-16 to a fourth place finish in the Canadian Club National Championships in Quebec, Canada as well as performing for the Whitecaps Residency team … In his six seasons on the Whitecaps, Irving was under the tutelage of Richard Grootscholen … Five time member of the honor roll since eight grade.
