Those five contests are all home games for the Wildcats, including Monmouth (Nov. 6), Purdue (Nov. 18), Central Michigan (Dec. 7), Wright State (Dec. 19) and Hofstra (Dec. 28).  The current slate of nonconference games is as follows, while the program is expected to add additional nonconference games in the coming weeks:

  • Monday, Nov. 3 vs. Morehead State (Historic Memorial Coliseum)
  • Thursday, Nov. 6 vs. Monmouth (Historic Memorial Coliseum)
  • Sunday, Nov. 9 at Buffalo (Buffalo, N.Y.)
  • Tuesday, Nov. 18 vs. Purdue (Historic Memorial Coliseum)
  • Wednesday, Dec. 3 at Miami (Coral Gables, Fla.)
  • Sunday, Dec. 7 vs. Central Michigan (Historic Memorial Coliseum)
  • Friday, Dec. 19 vs. Wright State (Historic Memorial Coliseum)
  • Sunday, Dec. 28 vs. Hofstra (Historic Memorial Coliseum)

The additional nonconference games, TV designations, tip times and ticket information will be announced at a later date.

Of the five contests, Kentucky and Monmouth have never played each other, while UK has a 5-2 record against the remaining opponents.

Kentucky narrowly trails Purdue, 2-1, with the two losses coming in 1999 and 2000 at the height of the Boilermakers’ program. Just last season though, the Wildcats thumped the Boilermakers, 82-52, in Mackey Arena. The Triplets – Teonni Key, Amelia Hassett, Clara Strack – all of which who are returning this season – each had an impressive showing in the first game of a home-and-home agreement with Purdue.

Amelia Hassett, senior forward, led the team with a season-high 22 points, knocking down five 3s, while she added nine rebounds. Strack, reigning Southeastern Conference Defensive Player of the Year and junior center, earned a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds, adding four assists and three blocks, while Key, senior forward, was one rebound shy of a double-double on 10 points, nine rebounds, three assists, three blocks and a steal.

The Wildcats’ associate head coach Lindsey Hicks was a player on Purdue’s No. 1 recruiting class in 2000. There, Hicks helped lead the Boilermakers to four consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances, including the national championship game in 2001. While Hicks was a student-athlete, Purdue won three Big Ten Championships and reached the Elite Eight (2003) and Sweet 16 (2004).

The Wildcats have the edge over the Central Michigan Chippewas in the all-time series, 2-0, first earning a 96-74 triumph on Nov. 17, 2013, at home before stealing a 71-68 triumph on Nov. 22, 2014, on the road. The Cats lead the Wright State Raiders, 1-0, in a 106-60 topple on March 22, 2014, in Historic Memorial Coliseum. The Cats also lead the Hofstra Lions, 1-0, earning a 67-54 win on Nov. 26, 2005, at the Pepperdine Thanksgiving Classic in Malibu, California.
