Women’s Soccer Host No. 11 Auburn Friday
LEXINGTON, Ky. – Kentucky women’s soccer (10-2-3, 2-2-3) looks to remain undefeated at home as they host No. 11 Auburn (12-1-2, 4-1-2) on Friday, October 18th at 7:30 p.m. ET at the Bell Soccer Complex. The match will also be televised on SECN+.
The Wildcats enter the match after losing on the road against Vanderbilt (7-2-5, 2-2-3) this past Sunday, 1-3. An early goal from Makala Woods gave the Wildcats an early lead against the Commodores but two goals in 1:18 in the second half swung things in favor of the hosts. Despite just the second loss of the season, the Wildcats remain tied for sixth in the Southeastern Conference standings with nine points.
No. 11 Auburn enters the match after defeating Tennessee (7-3-3, 2-2-2) 3-2 on the road this past Sunday. Joint leader in goals scored in the SEC this season, Olivia Woodson, scored twice for the Tigers in the victory with Sydnie Thibodaux scoring the winner in the 80th minute. The Tigers have enjoyed a historic season ranking in the top five in the nation in goal differential (36), points per game (9.07), scoring offense (3.00), shutout percentage (0.733), total assists (46), total goals (45) and total points (0.867) entering the match.
Auburn narrowly leads the all-time series with a 13-11-4 record while Kentucky has a 6-6-2 home record against the Tigers. The Wildcats last hosted the Tigers in the previous meeting between the two teams on October 6th, 2022, where Kentucky lost 1-3.
