Women’s Soccer Returns to the Bell, Hosts LSU
LEXINGTON, Ky. – Kentucky women’s soccer (9-1-3, 1-1-3) concluded their two-game road trip this past week collecting four points and their first Southeastern Conference win of the season in Tuscaloosa. The Wildcats return to the Bell Soccer Complex for the first time since late September to host LSU (7-5-1, 2-3-0) on Thursday, October 10th at 7:30 p.m. ET. The match will be televised on SECN+.
The Wildcats enter the match after earning their first SEC victory of the season, defeating Alabama 2-0 on the road last Sunday. Maddie Kemp’s blast in the 30th minute, plus a Crimson Tide own goal, helped the Wildcats secure a much-needed three points and boost in the conference standings. Kentucky now sits tied for ninth with LSU on six points through five SEC matches.
LSU enters the match after a 0-4 thumping by No. 16 Auburn at home last Sunday. The away side scored twice in each half with 12 shots on goal to hand the hosts their second straight loss and fifth of the season. The Tigers travel to Lexington led by midfielder Ida Hermannsdottir who has seven goals and 14 points this season.
Kentucky leads the all-time series against LSU 13-7-3 with a 5-2-2 home record against the Tigers. The Wildcats last hosted LSU on October 14th, 2021, where they lost 0-1. The previous meeting between the two teams came on October 29th, 2023, in the SEC Tournament where Kentucky won 4-2 on penalties after a scoreless draw through 90 minutes. Kentucky secured the victory after playing a woman down for much of the second half in a heated contest between the two sides.
