UK Athletics Issues Fan Reminders Ahead of Go Big Blue 4 Miler, Baseball, Softball Weekends

LEXINGTON, Ky. – With large crowds expected at home baseball and softball games at the Barnhart Family Athletics Complex throughout the coming weekend, and the Go Big Blue 4 Miler Presented by Kroger Simple Truth running across the University of Kentucky Campus Saturday morning, UK Athletics is issuing reminders to fans to ensure their experience goes as smoothly as possible with so much going at one time.

Both the baseball and softball teams are nationally ranked and each host Southeastern Conference series starting on Friday at Kentucky Proud Park and John Cropp Stadium.

Fans are urged to arrive early as the same parking lots serve both the baseball and softball facilities. Shuttle service will drive fans up to the gates for fans who park in the Kroger Field Green and Blue Lots starting one hour prior to first pitch.

Weather could also impact game times so fans are encouraged to follow @UKBaseball and @UKSoftball on social media for updates. First pitch for the Friday baseball game has been pushed up to 4 p.m. ET.

Saturday starts with the Go Big Blue 4 Miler race beginning and ending at Kroger Field and taking participants through various athletic facilities on south campus before the baseball and softball games in the afternoon (2 p.m.) and evening (6 p.m.), respectively.

Registration for the race remains open through Friday night at UKathletics.com/GoBigBlue4Miler with three pricing categories. Registration is $35 for adults (18 years old and over) and $30 for youth (ages 17 and under). The Junior Wildcat Club 1 Mile Kids Run/Walk for kids 10 years old and younger will return this year to begin the day. Registration for the 10 and under run/walk is $25 and will start at 8:30 a.m. ET. Walking participants can register at the same price in all three categories.

Participants should park in the Blue VIP lot outside Kroger Field on the Alumni Drive side.

Both Kentucky Baseball and Softball will also host “Bark in the Park” weekend.

Dogs will be permitted at John Cropp Stadium and Kentucky Proud Park this weekend. All dogs must be kept on a leash while in John Cropp Stadium and Kentucky Proud Park.

A maximum of one dog per person is permitted. Dogs must stay on the grass berm and are not permitted in the seating bowl at any time. Owners are permitted to bring a water bowl for their dog, but dog food is prohibited. Kentucky Athletics reserves the right to refuse entry to any dog or require a dog to exit the stadium.

Bring your dog to Bark at the Park if they:

  • Do well on-leash and are not aggressive toward people or other dogs
  • Are friendly toward humans and not excessively fearful
  • Are on a leash and supervised by an adult at all times

Participants are expected to practice responsible pet ownership. If your dog is an aggressive breed or has aggressive tendencies, do not bring them to this event. Do not bring your dog if it is unpredictable in crowds, with other dogs, and/or with strangers. Kentucky Athletics reserves the right to refuse entry to any dog or require a dog to leave for any reason.

UK Athletics cautions against purchasing tickets through other outlets that may be unable to provide this assurance. That risk is magnified for sold-out games like Saturday’s.
